WISDOM - COURAGE - STRENGTH
"ONE DAY AT A TIME"
These are the words that inspired Elizabeth Tiglao-Guss daily as she battled depression. For 10 years, Elizabeth felt estranged from her life. She spent six years battling depression and anxiety and the next four years getting well, finding herself, and searching for meaning. Elizabeth is now sharing her story to connect with people struggling with depression.
THE BIRTH OF LINK OF HEARTS
In 2013, Elizabeth left all she knew in Philadelphia - career, family and friends - to support her husband’s career in Los Angeles. As Elizabeth searched for a job in Los Angeles, she had a strong desire to tap into her creativity and learn to create jewelry as a hobby. The words that inspired her during her depression, wisdom, courage and strength, were written on a bracelet she wore everyday. Unfortunately this cherished bracelet broke. Not being able to find a bracelet like it on the Internet, Elizabeth decided to learn how to design and create one, while still looking for the right job. She watched YouTube videos and attended jewelry design classes from great designers. After a few classes, she was hooked and the desire to design and create a bracelet became a passion.
Elizabeth told me, “I believe there was a bigger reason why I couldn’t find the right job. Having always had a strong faith, I believe things happen for a reason. I may not know the reason, but I trust things are planned out for me.”
As her jewelry designing became more defined and with the strong support of her husband, she moved forward to designing and creating jewelry full time.
Link of Hearts was born, but Elizabeth wanted it to be more than just another jewelry brand. Elizabeth wanted to make a difference; she wanted her business to be a story of a woman with a passion and a personal mission. Remembering how much her simple bracelet helped her with hope and inspiration during her struggles, she decided her brand would help and inspire people battling depression and mental illness.
“My mission in life is not merely to survive, but to thrive; and to do so with some passion, some compassion, some humor, and some style.” – Maya Angelou
LINK OF HEARTS JEWELRY
Elizabeth’s beautifully made jewelry connects, inspires, and gives a clear message of hope. She describes herself as a minimalist and her designs are both modern and simple. In addition to the jewelry, she also sells wonderful aromatherapy candles. Link of Hearts observes the one-for-one business model, wherein for every purchase, Elizabeth will give an inspirational bracelet “String of Hope” to someone battling depression or mental illness. The words on the bracelet will vary and they are based on the words that were powerful and helpful to Elizabeth when she struggled with depression. The words may be simple such as “be brave, be strong” but they can be really impactful when someone is going through a tough time. The girls who receive the bracelets are from support groups of different Mental Health Non-Profit Organizations and Practitioners.

Elizabeth received affirmation from a 15-year-old girl immediately after starting the company. Elizabeth received an email from the teenager expressing her gratitude for the bracelet “String of Hope” she received at her support group. She told Elizabeth how symbolic and powerful the bracelet was to her since she had just gone through another tragic event. Elizabeth knew then that her mission was so much bigger than herself.
Elizabeth continues today with her story and effort to provide hope:
