After the sales of Black Friday and the online shopping boom on Cyber Monday, #GivingTuesday is an opportunity to come together to show the world why it’s good to give.

Whether it’s making a donation, volunteering your time or just spreading the word at the start of the Christmas shopping season, #GivingTuesday is a call to action for everyone who wants to give something back.

#GivingTuesday started in 2012 and has grown into a global movement, covering countries like The United States, United Kingdom, Australia, Singapore, Canada, much of Latin America and Israel.

The simple idea behind #GivingTuesday is to encourage people, charities and businesses to donate time, money or their voice to help a good cause.

Here are a few ideas to consider.

  • Random Acts of Kindness: In my June blog post I listed Not so Random Acts of Kindness that don’t take much time or money.

  • A Gift: What could be a better gift this holiday season than giving a donation in honor of a friend or loved one. With so many worthy causes, it is hard to pick one. It is best to choose one or two that are near and dear to your heart.
